Throughout the month of November Highland Park Markets will be collecting items for the local food pantries in the towns we operate stores in. Highland Park Markets decided to work directly with the local pantries as they are in dire need this year. The food pantries Highland Park Markets has partnered up with are Enfield Loaves and Fishes, Farmington Food Pantry, Manchester Area Conference of Churches and Suffield Emergency Aid.

Highland Park Markets is inviting communities to come out and support the pantries by donating items that are needed on a continuous basis which sometimes the pantries do not receive. When Highland Park Markets talked with pantries they all had explained their number one need is nutritious snacks for children. Nutritious snacks would include granola bars, fruit snacks, fruit cups, crackers, anything a child can make or have as a snack which they can prepare on their own. Items which are also needed by the food pantries includes: chunk light tuna in water, peanut butter, jelly, rice, baked beans, pork-n-beans, SPAM, Macaroni & cheese, canned vegetables, canned fruit, cookies, crackers, soup (not tomato, chunky, beef stew), juices, cereal, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, pickles, salad dressings, pasta, sauce, personal care items (soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc), laundry detergent, dish detergent, and paper goods (paper towels, napkins, bath tissue, facial tissue).

Food Pantries said they would be happy if customers wanted to make out checks payable to the organization the would like to support. Highland Park Markets will be having dress down days for its employees throughout the month of November as well as be collecting monetary donations at the registers this month.
